Hello,

Some miscreants tried to break into my shed the other night. Luckily, they must have been disturbed after breaking one side of a toughened glass, double glazed unit and breaking off the closing lap of the door. Thankfully, the shed remained largely intact and was not entered.

Just a warning to everyone, it is the time of year where break ins are on the increase, PLEASE take extra care of your property, give some thought to precautionary action, which might get otherwise forgotten at this busy time of the year.

Mike.

Last month we (along with an adjacent unit) had an attempted break in. They managed to rip the fire escape door and frame right out, fortunately we have a metal security gate on the inside, which must of been a disappointment  so they gave up. Still we had to restore the door, but it's beefed up more now

So... +1 on this advice, ***** the quality of your security today!

I heard someone trying to steal my ladders they got a shock when they realised 1 set of triple, 1 double and crawler were all chained together so impossible to move in one go (hammer)

I have been robed, Malcolm one the worst of my thieving little ferrets ran off with my vintage Stanley craft knife. I have looked everywhere and cannot find it. all i have found is lots of half eaten bits of toast he has stolen from me at breakfast time.

There has been about 10 house burglaries near me in the last couple of months. That's very, very unusual. Some of these were carried out by a man and a woman.

In one case, they forced their way into an elderly ladys home (around lunchtime) and the woman restrained the elderly lady while the man went through the house.

Most of the others have occured between 1am and 5am. Definately a time to review security and deterrents. And not leave car keys laying around or near the front door.

Not many people would suspect a couple walking around (at pretty much any time of the day), compared with two males.

Hello,

Ha, my new dog keeps raiding my tool bag, to the point where I am right out of pencils, most of my plastic handled screwdrivers are handle less, or have uncomfortable 'stumps' left and ther are a few tools I keep stumbling over in the most unlikely places. I wonder how they got there! I suppose humour is the best medicine, I'm just glad the damage to my shed is repairable and they didn't actually enter this time. My shed is at my mum's house, so I installed a new alarm system for her and incorporated some door contacts and a passive IR for the shed. Hope this does the trick.

Mike.

We had a bout of daytime break-ins this time last year, 5 in one day! it lasted 3 weeks spread across our nice quiet estate. The police patrolled all the time, went door to door giving away lighting timer switches and asking people to be on the look out, and left a police incident unit parked in the small car park at the local shops. To my knowledge no-one was caught and it just stopped as suddenly as it started.

We didn't have any problems at our last house after I "Smartwater"ed everything that moved and put warning signs on all doors and windows.
You don't really need a perfect deterent, as much as things that make your property less appealing than your neighbours'.

I cleared two benches off a while ago. I found five squares, seven stanley knives, thirteen tape measures and forty one pencils.

Well you know Phil, tape measures breed; as a rule! :)
