Timberyards - East Midlands

Does anyone use any ‘good’ timberyards in the East Midlands. Anywhere around Leicester to Derby would work. Thanks, Dave.

I've used Brooks in Maldon, and used to use Fitchetts in the eighties when I lived in the East Midlands. Never any problems

Gibbs & Dandy in Nottingham are good, used to be Nixon Knowles. Not a huge range of hardwood, but the basics, oak, ash, canary, iroko, and excellent range of softwood and boards.

Does the ‘once’ suggest there wouldn’t be a twice? What did you reckon to it?

Nothing wrong with the wood. Lots wrong with the individual who "served" me. And I don't like being charged a 50% premium because I only want one large board of bubinga rather than a lorry-load.

PS I used a bit of that board and gave the biggest part of it to my uncle. I wish I'd kept it, it would be worth a fortune now .
