Just a quick up date on Re: timber identification i posted in the week i have planed a few down but don,t know if it makes any difference with the photo.s i think i know what they are now but would like a second opinion

The piece with the large splits looks like laburnum to me depends on thickness as to what you do with it but it is lovely dense hard wood to work.
 
it,s only about a inch thick and yes i thought laburnum but i am only going by photo.s from the net
 
Cherry , Laburnum and some burr oak by the looks of it. Not sure on pic 4 and 5
 
this one i am not sure on ??

If you can turn,laburnum makes lovely chisel handles,finish with sanding sealer then a bit of wax or Brasso will give you a lovely sheen.
 
Well i am tempted to make something like this from the two pieces of timber below

But what shall i do with the Laburnum ???
Or if you have any idea;s what i could make with any of it; or all of it ; :idea: :idea:

Just to confirm the timber i posted photo,s of and will be below are alder the person i bought them from just managed to get back in touch with me to confirm they are alder .
They re alder plaques I used to burn messages on and hang up on walls. thank,s for the help
