Has anyone tried (or better still, succeeded) getting a mortgage on an all timber house? I'm looking at buying a bungalow built by a Swedish company (Hedlunds Brahus), but the big lenders run a mile at the thought.

you might want to pick up a copy of homebuilding and renovating at smiths, the back is usually full of lenders who seem happy to lend on self-builds and by implication, 'wood heavy' houses

I think the last series of "Grand Designs" had an episode on the "Hoff House" wooden house. I know its featured in a book of the series, or a call to Channel 4 might furnish some info.

Try these guys. Finlandia. They're building a new Shop / Organic Business up near here and are almost bound to have some information or contacts in that field.
