Hi all,
I am doing or going to do some outside tiling, I will be using terracotta, I first tried tile adhesive from a tub, not to good and was to white in colour.
My next attempt was cement ready mixed from a B & Q packet, right color but will it hold.
Now if the ready mix works, would it be cheaper to mix my own.
Any suggestions.

I would have a look here

this company makes a wide range of products and each adhesive is clearly marked if its for internal or external use.
The same for the grout. check the list from the link
There are also grout products for wide joints
You should also read this
Which explains about water expanding on freezing causing frost shattering.

The first thing I would do is make sure your terracotta tiles are OK for external use.

If they are then buy a powdered adhesive suitable for external use, something like BAL Rapidset will be OK with wide joint grout (tiles will likely need sealing before grouting)
