Trend Airshield pro. 920 gram (1115 gram total in use)
Battery pack 195 gram (8hr) charge in helmet, additional charging dock available.#
Filters* En12941:1999 TH 2 P (£20)
Eye impact EN166:2002 1 3 B (repl. O/lays ~£17.50 (10))
Humidity up to 95%

# Guide notes say 14 hrs charge for 8 hr battery, no indication of charge state.

*Filters: EN 12941:1998 Powered filtering device with helmet / hood
TH - turbo hood 1, 2 or 3 - inward leakage class (10%, 2% or 0.2%)
P - for use against particles + S or SL - use against solids only or solids and liquids.

Main difference is in the ability of the Powercap to prevent dust from entering via side/face seal (inward leakage class) if battrey is low or extra deep breath taken.

I also noted that in 2008 only The Filters on the powercap carried a certification whereas the whole mask is certified on the Trend.

Anyone have anything to add about the JSP Powercaps? Have been researching both the Trend and JSP and the reviews are coming down on the side of the JSP?

tanzaro, You have PM.

Chas, what do you think about adding some kind of veil around the bottom of the power cap? i.e sealing it round ones neck\soulders?

Tom It probably depends on how good a fit the original is to your face, can't see it being anything but an advantage on the protection front, how much of a hinderance in use when fitting and removing though I guess would be down to how good the pattern cutting and manufacture was.

I had thought of marrying one to a loose balaclava styled hood but the heat problems I suffered due to lack of airflow around the scalp in the summer decided me against following up the idea.

there were big problems with the wiring on the powercap light last year - peter helmsley got to the point where he could barely deal with jsp ithout loosing his rag, on account of their lack of responsiveness to the problem

that may have all been sorted now tho

That's precisely why I chose the Trend and never thought I would get used to it, but it's excellent, not too heavy, and I'm a flimsy female

Cheers Chas. I see what you mean. Certainly something to consider if it can be easily removable (velcro) for summer.

Ive got access to both - i have a power cap at home but we have trends at work - i have to say i prefer the trend hands down - i find the power cap very tight on my head and uncomfortable
