Hi,

I'm looking at my first bandsaw and when FC did a small review of the sip 01444 heavy duty 14" bandsaw a while back, it seemed like a good starting point.

I stumbled across the 14" Warco bandsaw, and it resembles the SIP machine very very closely but is quite a bit cheaper.

Apart from being a single speed machine i can't seem to spot much difference between the two.

Anyone have the Warco bandsaw and would like to comment ?

sadly this one is not available in Europe, http://www.grizzly.com/products/14-2-HP ... dsaw/G0457

Eying the scheppach basato 4 too

Had a look at the Warco at Harrogate last autumn and came away unimpressed at build quality/finish, the way the components moved/clamped, etc. Wasn't as good as the Records, which didn't impress me that much either. Was much more impressed by the Scheppachs, and recently took delivery (long delay) of a Basato 4.

It's the first bandsaw I've used, so I'm not much of an opinion for a review. However - followed the checklists (from books or web pages) on how to set up/tune the saw, and found most of it (e.g. blade at 90 degrees to table, set of tracking and guides) was spot on as delivered, and it's cut accurately, very thick and very thin ... any problems are clearly inexperienced operator and not machine!

If it's in budget, have a look - others on this forum have enthused about the bigger and smaller models too ...

Thx for the tip on the Warco bandsaws.

I think i've read some quite a few not so positive comments on the records built quality, fences.

The basato 4 seems like the biggest bang for the buck.
