If god, sorry Jacob said it's not true then it can't be so, so be told

.

Jacob, bless him, is right at the back of the queue of people trying to tell me something

"PC" is a popular straw man which has been kicked around for years by D Mail readers and others of that tendency, generally found to be without substance.

Just for information, does the 'PC' in the thread title refer to 'Police Constable' or 'Political Correctness'?

No such thing as a "Police Constable" any more, They are all officers now

They always were "officers". Well some of them were. Nothing has changed.
It wouldn't spoil a good stupid PC story though would it?

I think something has definitely changed. We used to have a local constabulary whereas nowadays most if not all UK police forces are for profit corporations listed on Dun and Bradstreet and owned by god knows who.

Aye Jacob that's true
You've done your fair share of kicking around pointless nonsense as well

Like Jacob, I take all such stories with a very large pinch of salt, especially when reported in the popular media where catching the attention of the reader is far more important than reporting all the information. If you read the original story fully the response from the official involved may simply have been repeating standard dress code rule. Not specifically banning this badge, but a general restriction on augmenting a standard uniform. That seems quite reasonable to me.

I also believe that the the lottery funding applications mentioned here are likely to be more complex then missing a single tick box on the form. I think it's human nature to pick on one particular aspect to have a moan about in the pub after a rejection.

It is of course entirely possible that a few genuine examples of excessive box ticking can be found, but a few examples does not prove that the country relies on this for every single decision that is made. No headline is ever going to read 'Police allowed to wear tribute emblem'

Indeed - even though on reading the non-story that appears to be the line taken by every senior officer.

Still, if it's an opportunity for middle aged white men (who, let's face it, have been playing life on "easy" for centuries) to complain that they're being marginalised, who's to stop them? Damn this treating-people-with-respect movement! Look at them suggesting that we treat people with respect! It's shocking!

Whenever you see a treating-people-with-respect outrage, you can be sure that it's being misreported by one of two groups; someone trying to sell papers, or someone trying to hide their lack of respect for people.
