seems to me we should not be blaming the americans, rather our lazy educators here who want everyone to sound the same, and have no dialect, or too much, without the joy of local intonation.
spelling has changed because we allowed micro soft to provide too many of the programmes, and nobody wants to correct the spell checker, ( is that chequer!!!!!!! :lol: )
when i was dragged up we were given spelling bees, and had to learn the words, that stopped because it became competitive, and some of the little darlings did not like coming second.
but seriously if enough people actually complain to the authors, and the magazines, then things will change. apathy is the largest political party in both america and the UK, but the next change only requires people complaining for some things to change.
lets start with spelling and grammar, and then maybe we could stop people spitting in the streets, etc.
if you cannot write properly in your own language, how are you going to respect yourself????????????
