After Cornucopias visit to me the other week i was kindly asked by George to come and have a look at his VB36 which i did today, for a few hours, and i also had a go on it. Yes i was grinning from ear to ear.
The difference was amazing, compared to my Hegner.
George quickly shaped the outside of a largeish wet Cherry piece, which had some lovely figuring in but also some rot,so was ideal for demonstration purposes. It just seemed so effortless
Thanks for showing us George.
Below are just some of the piccys i took.
Hope you enjoy
The Cherry blank mounted ready to go.
Truing up the outside.
The shavings getting bigger.
Almost there.
The outside shaped.
Making the dovetail for the chuck.
The piece is now held on by the chuck.
Here you can see how the work is held on by the VB.Three inter locking bolts that fit into elongated slots, tightened up when in place.
The chuck is the same.
And here George is flattening the face ready for taking the inners out.
