To be honest I suspect that winning ten Mill is probably the worst thing that could happen to most of us, we would lose some of the incentives that drive us, that make us what we are,
.

imo those that are happiest after winning are those who dont change their lives dramatically

Ive got a job i like (most of the time), workmates i get on with, a missus i love who loves me back, good mates who i see from time to time... why would i want to change ? - The ideal life is the one ive got, just with more financial security.

if i won ten mil , i'd buy a nice house (with a three car garage workshop natch) fit out the shop with top end kit, buy a nice car each for me and swimbo , buy my old dear a decent pention and do up her house, bank the rest and carry on my life as i am.

Proper order Moose.

But I have an acquaintance whose Mother won 4 mill. His folks gave him the house they lived in and an 'allowance'. They moved to an upmarket area; where they were 'tolerated'. So their life changed.

The chap didn't change, but his 'friends' became spongers and it took two foreign cruises, with him footing the bill, to make him see it.

In the end, he woke up and moved out of the area, cutting himself off.
He started a business, and I am pleased to say it's successful, but he had to make a new circle of friends and a lot of changes. Not always easy.

Of course I would accept the winnings; but I might be tempted to keep it very quiet!

Mind you I think the lottery is fixed in some way.

(honest I am not a troll :) )

I can recall back in the 40's when there was a racket of buying tickets which you tore off the edges to reveal a winning number inside, I knew someone who sold these tickets and scanned them with a light before they were offered.

I think of the numbers game that the mafia or mob were involved in the USA and to day our lottery is run by an American outfit.

I think the winning selection might be influenced by the number of winners possible with the winning line.

All the above is my vivid imagination of course and it is the most honestly run and operated lottery.

if its a lift up lid its more difficult to accomodate , though i have seen one in a mates shop which has a false mdf top built over its lid (seperately hinged to the wall behind) which can be used as an assembly/painting table

That's a great idea! Something I wish I'd thought of three or four years ago before I 'covered' my mum's freezer with oil and varnish... Oh well, at least I've managed to convince her since that it needed -de-commissioning'. It's still in the workshop now, with a sheet of chipboard on top - it makes a comfortable working height for my mortiser and the other side is a good space for dumping crap! :) I don't remember it giving out much heat when it was running, though?

Environmentally controlled to 45% RH and 20 degrees all year round.
No damp no leaks or drafts.
Hrv unit for fresh air.
Sky lights for natural light.

Separate area for heavy machinery, that has all the above RH control not as important.

Dust extractor in the Attic to reduce noise.

And i think 25 maybe 27 by 50 feet in size

Lots of light that doesn't cast shadows.

It's own washroom hmmm, Bathroom so you can have a shower at the end of the day.

I don't think winning the lotto would stop me doing what i do. If anything i'd have the nicest space to do it in.

thats a good point but the key to that is not being a sucker and picking your mates in the first place.

one of my best freinds is a property developer (total worth probably 15 mil or so) and hes never had a problem with people sponging because those of us who are his close mates arent like that, and if other aquaintences are they get told robustly to. erm... go away.

(although that said when my contracting business was folding in 2001, due to the FMD epidemic ,he did lend me a few grand to stop my car being repossesed - but it was his idea and i paid him back every penny when i could)
