Great review Derek!
Terry's planes are lovely tools-I love the simple, yet georgous lines. And they introduced me to the 60 degree pitch!
Best regards

Great review.

Just one point.

By the time the planes acclimatize to UK or USA conditions a little sole checking & or flattening may be necessary. 240 grit W&D stuck to a flat surface and some pencil scribble over the sole will reveal all.

60 degree pitch is very useful on cranky timbers, for some real shockers I even go to 70!

For anyone that cares to try this style of plane but is put off by the Gordon prices, I can recommend the Muijingfang planes - as I review here https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/view ... 883#105883
The big one's on offer at Rutlands until tomorrow fwiw. Incidentally I've just added that one to the list of reviews, Chris - somehow I missed it before. You shoulda said!

Cheers, Alf

Hi Derek,

I finally got around to reading your review. Nice work, it is a good read.

I have seen Terry demonstrate his planes at a couple of wood shows here in Sydney. They are very nice planes and he makes using them look so easy. I haven't tried one myself yet though.
