I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question, but here goes... :)

Does anyone here use the GIMP for their artwork?

I've just started using it and I'd like to have a module which allowed you to reduce a picture to a given number of colours (8, 6, 4, 3 or 2) and then trace the outline of those colours. Can anyone help me find or produce such a module?

Hi Gill
If I understand what you want to achieve correctly Gimp can do this with its inbuilt tools. on the image menu (ie the menu thats on the top of the image itself rather than the general tool palette) click
image
mode
indexed
From the indexed dialogue you can specify the maximum number of colours and palette to use.

Many, many thanks Mike :) .

As I said, I'm a newcomer to the GIMP but it's software that I intend to use an awful lot if it can pull stunts like that.

No problem, just glad to be able to put a little bit back in so to speak.
Cheers Mike
