The seat has been woven and now the chair is complete.

For those interested in the weaving process, details are included in the final chapter: http://www.inthewoodshop.com/Furniture/ ... Chair.html

For now, I present the final pictures ..

A comparison with the original chair … I think the weaving creates a lighter feeling. What do you think?

Thank you all for your support and encouragement along this journey.

Congratulations Derek, it's beautiful.

You were right about the weaving - a far more elegant look than the upholstered seat, and it really accentuates the stunning figure of the Jarrah.

Congratulations from me too. A fascinating exploration of inventing techniques to solve problems.

I doubt that you will be going in for mass production though!

Unfortunately I have not followed all steps of this work (I'll do later), however the result is impressive. =D> =D>
A very beautiful master piece!

Another vote for the woven seat and congratulations on a job well done.

Also thanks for the WIP. It's comforting for me to see that a project like this doesn't happen overnight, even for a real craftsman.

Well done, that is a lovely piece of work, you must be well chuffed, and the woven seat is an improvement. Bet you haven't let anyone sit on it yet!

Thanks for posting all this. I've enjoyed watching - a very nicely crafted piece of work. And I like the woven seat, it updates it a bit in a sypathetic way - though I have to admit the original design is a long way from my taste !
