Its now X weeks until Christmas.

I guess I am not alone in turning my attention to making presents and "stuff".
I'm looking for inspiration.

Maybe you could post things you have made or add links to previous posts on the subject.

For example: years ago someone posted a technique for turning xmas trees that somehow "fluffed up" the wood.
I made some but for the life of me I cant remember how. It involves spindle turning unseasoned branches. I seem to remember using hazel to good effect.

Log with a few tea lights in is a good one or a rough plank, or a smooth plank, probably some dried mud with tea lights in would work. what is it about tea lights?

Pete

I think although on PhotoBucket these images are still visible albeit the making of flowers, the trees are a similar process using the skew.

Yes I have some on "the go" requested by a friend.
She saw a 6"x6"x6" block of wood with a hole drilled in it for 30 quid in some shop and now I am making a few for her.

Personally I think candles are the work of the devil and will not have them in the house

Thanks Chas
On thinking about it, it was "Ratwood" who showed me how to make these at a bash in Brum (IIRC at Pauls's home)

Yes they were somewhat of a "Party Piece" of His, coloured felt tips & markers to the fore for effect.

Page 63 of the December Woodturning Mag. has picture of skew use making trees.

How about something like these.

Made with off cuts of oak. I was fortunate that the pens that were used had been given to me but a decent ball point set in at an angle should work OK.
These were made for a charity for blind dogs and went like hot cakes

Alan.
