The Axminster "Odd Jobs"

Hi all
I have just bought on of these little things. They seem to be multipurpose tools depth gauge, compass,rule etc but whats missing from mine?
In the catalogue it has a small rod attatched to one side? mine hasn't got this!
so should i have one?
and what is it for?

I can't see any pic Mike. Are you talking about this odd job?

Yes thats the one!
Now mine has not got the little chrome rod on the side?

That's the scribe and you should have one. Used as an awl and for using it as a beam compass afaik.
