Watched it last episode-may have been a repeat , they had to design a brand and promote it . 1 set came up with a rap with an ai voice that you could not understand, the other came up with a song- both belonged in the pits of hell and damnation - won’t be watching it again - worse than this why do they then make another hour long programme about the 1hour of the apprentice that’s just been shown - now my memory isn’t good but certainly don’t need a reminder of what I’ve just watched,,,never again

The interesting thing is that this show has been going for years with pretty much the same format. Yet, when the contestants are given the 'task of the week' they seem dumbfounded. I'm not sure what's happened to our education system but if these people are the 'cream of the crop' of businessmen/women, I think we are royally screwed. The lack of knowledge and incompetence is quite staggering.

This could be the first series in which he fires everyone of them.
Can't see one of them even near being worthy of the opportunity to work with a pack of monkeys let alone work for Lord Sugar.

I watch it just to be appalled. I worked in Corporate sales and sales mgt for 25 years, carrying sales quota of over 600 m ukp in that time. There are very few of those candidates I would consider for a job.
The best bit of the series is the prog where they look at business cases, some of them are utterly appalling.

They don't pick contestants for their business acumen, they are making an entertainment show whose main purpose is to get views/comments/media attention.... same as any other 'reality' or 'talent' show. There are dozens of people on this forum that produce work far superior to that shown on 'Britain's Best Woodworker' for example, and that is before you get to professional or trade cabinet makers and the like. Don't watch The Apprentice as 'the future brains of business Britain', watch it as entertainment (if you must watch it at all!) - after all, how many people really want to watch a well run board room meeting or product design launch?!

That's very true, of course.
It must be heavily edited. They can't have cameras trained on every contestant at all times in order to show that curled lip/raised eyebrow/furrowed brow/shocked expression! And then there's the "you have 20 minutes" to get up and dressed on the day of filming...blokes maybe, but the females?!
The only advantage in watching is at the end, when you can think "Well, I'm not as thick as I thought I was!"

Even worse, I went into a pub, could only see lager type beer on the pumps. I asked the guy behind the bar if they had any bitter - what's bitter he said?

Going back to the rhubarb question, one of the girls tried to help the bloke out by stating "it's like pink celery..."

The tragedy of modern brewing! I just find lager tasteless, some more than others. Holidays abroad are always let down by only having lagers to drink!

It gets worse- I see from one of the morning papers the favourite to win has walked out for using the term ( coloured) to describe black people, as a person of mixed heritage I can definitely say this is probably one of the least offensive terms that I’ve personally been called. Referred to . World is still not understanding. Whilst not for any reason wanting to turn this thread political or racial I will say I grew up with great comedians like Bernard manning, frank carson , Mike Reid , jim Davidson etc all now branded questionable by today’s society… 🤔🤔🤔

The contestants certainly don't lack confidence and self-promotion - much further towards the front of the queue when that was dished out than they were when humility and self-awareness was on offer.

That said, they more often than not come across much better and likeable in the follow-up programme on BBC2 immediately afterwards. Clearly, without giving the game away, the editing of the main programme is top drawer for entertainment milking.

The 'pink celery' comment was a true classic. I can't imagine it being surpassed as the episodes roll on but I'm sure someone will try.

One phrase that grinds my gears and often used is '...smash it...' which I believe is used to encourage one's team mate(s) to keep doing what they're meant to do. On last night's programme, there was a cross team 'phone call to see how the two groups were fairing and the team leader told them to 'keep on smashing it'. At that stage, they had simply purchased one item from a list of 10.....but that's apparently 'smashing it'.

They were, however, extremely proud of themselves and basking in their awesomeness.

I love watching it :p

Out of all the episodes the one that sticks in the mind is "Dance in your pants" I think that shows my mental age? Then again watching it shows my entertainment expectations.
