The only problem I can see is the shortness of the rails, do they do longer ones or is the saw compatible with any other rails.

I'd give that a go for the money, But for gods sake don't cut plaster board with a power saw, unless you have a really
good extractor plugged in, It's dust nasty dangerous stuff!
Personally it's a stupid way to start an AD.

Looks like NI only at the moment.

It seems that we get some things a few weeks before GB, probably not everything though.

I have no intentions. Will use it occasionally for 12 mm plywood and 12 mm T&G redwood.

AD ?

I phoned Einhell/ Parkside who say this isn't one of their models, so I have sent an enquiry to Lidl NI

Didn't realise Einhell made the Parkside stuff

I know someone who has one of these. He's not been able to find extra rails available separately as yet. However, he bought one and it blew after a week so he took it back and changed it. He "forgot" to pack the rails in with the first one though so now he has four

All in all he's pretty chuffed with it. It struggles after a few cuts on the OE blade but he's since fitted a Freud one (don't know which) and he says it's transformed the saw.

Einhell make some Parkside products under licence, but unfortunately not the one I am considering.

I went ahead and got one this morning. Only two left when I got there just before 9:00.

I would say, for the money, it is well worth it. The track could be better, the depth stop could be smoother, the dust collection is better than my Makita.

I see no reason why it shouldn't last a long time with the light use I will give it.

Any mention in the manual or the packaging about the availability of additional track?

I already rang customer services on Friday to find out but they left me listening to music until I had to go shave. :)

Apparently the same saw is sold under a few different banners, with varying lengths of track, so I intend to do some research before buying.

It looks very similar to the Scheppach / Woodstar plunge saw. The tracks for which are available separately.

Nigel

Having owned the Scheppach before getting my Festool TS55, I'd put money on that being from the same factory in china and thus simply rebadged and therefore VERY likely to be the same track. Seems the track format was not patented as quite a few manufacturers use the same format track.

I did a couple more cuts this evening and although I am generally satisfied with it, I noticed that if I try to set the slide tolerance too close, it snags at the track join.

A well known online auction site has SCHEPPACH PL 55 REPLACEMENT SAW TRACK 1.4M GUIDE RAIL, GUIDE TRACK, which looks like it might fit, for £59.95 + £10 postage to good old Norn Iron.

I would be loath to spend that since the complete kit I have cost £9.96 less.

The same site has a set of two clamps for £12.95 all in, which I expect I will invest in.
