How many cups of t or coffee do you go through in a working day?

I am at least 5 teas and 1 coffee per day.

Whoo hoo five coffee's...you wimp, my intake is around ten coffee's per day. No wonder I work at the speed I do! Could have something to do with frequent visits to the toilet too.

I used to be a tea drinker but about 18 months ago I started getting constant heartburn. I realised when I was working away and didn't drink any tea that the heartburn went away so now drink coffee instead. I probably drink a dozen or so cups a day but some days it can be more and others it might only be one.

1 coffee in the morning - in all fairness it is proper coffee and in one of those insulated mugs, so is about 2 cups. Then about 2-3 cups of tea over the rest of the day. Nothing after 4-5pm as I struggle with sleep afterwards.

Actually it is an urban myth that coffee is a stimulant, in fact it is not. If you regularly drink coffee then without it you get withdrawal symptoms which slows you down, taking coffee simply brings you back to a normal activity level which someone who does not drink coffee would be operating at.

Not that that makes a bean of difference to me, I probably drink 20 cups a day! If I don't get coffee though I do get bad withdrawal and absolute stinking head aches.

Tea is too much faffing about, the only time I drink tea is if I run out of coffee :D

paah you wimp - I am upto 3 LITRES REAL COFFEE per day, first one at 6,30,or 7 am.

Flask in the car for the morning break, that's 1.5l before lunch. though I really have lunch, couple more mugs during the afternoon.
Get to my lodgings where ever I am working, then I'll have another brew - 1L flask, again real coffee through a paper filter into the flask. This keeps it hot and not like the US drip coffee machines, burning the coffee whilst trying to keep in hot.

I might have a mug of tea around 10 ish, then a couple more mugs of coffee and then bed. I still usually manage 6-7 hours sleep per day.

Still I do fill the piss bucket with 2 - 3 liters of light yellow piss, just been checking it recently for my own sanity that I was n't doing any "self - harm "

hth,

I drink tea on average 14 a day a large mug about 1/2 pint in size no sugar but with full weight milk. When I finish work normally at 6 pm I find a stop off when I have it without milk and is normally in a pint jug which to me is cooking tea (quite weak) and defiantly no milk in it. I only have 2 of those which rounds of the day to a nice finish.

The kettle is never cold in my workshop

Good Man! Now that is dedication. I bet your 'water' bucket smells like Starbucks!

I don't manage that many, but having got into real coffee, I never touch instant - it just doesn't seem right. I've got an espresso machine at home for STRONG Americanos and get either Lavazza Qualita Rosa, (The red one) or if I order in time, a selection of beans from a great supplier in Stratford called Monsoon Estates. Great couple who roast their own - Highly recommended.

Not sure how many I drink, as the 'faff' factor is higher with the real deal, which probably reduces the consumption.

If I am away, I'll either 'put up with' cafetiere / filter, or if I remember it, (and I usually do, as it is so transportable), I take one of these;

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000GXZ2GS/?tag=hydra0b-21&hvadid=9550950909&ref=asc_df_B000GXZ2GS

Amazing bit of kit, which means I can make a pretty good espresso even with just a kettle for the water - Brilliant! (and incidentally, designed by the guy that made the aero frisbee)

In fact the rest of the house is asleep, so I think I'll just nip off and have one now.....

So then it is a stimulant, as as you state it brings you back up, if only to the level you would have been if you hadn`t had it in the first place.

Like most drugs really, gives you a high & then a low, repeated you will continue with highs & lows until you stop taking the drug & return to normal, whatever that is.

Sunday morning lows are the worse

Ok, I feel like a caffeine wimp. Tops of four or five mugs a day for me or I'm a gibbering wreck. This week I've been down to one or two a day. I can't even begin to imagine drinking as much as some of you guys.

I find if I drink tea I have to have a coffee to take the taste away! :)
At home I use a filter machine made by Siemens designed by Porsche - it drips into a thermos type steel flask/jug.
I have a couple of expresso jugs but a few years ago left one on the hob, burnt my fingers and our worktop picking it up!
For travels I take a Melita "funnel" and papers but that expresso one looks cool?

Well I am shocked! I always thought that I had a high coffee intake  .....but after reading this it looks like I am a wimp!

Chipping the tannin off reminds me of a guy I used to work with. His tea mug was white on the outside and dark brown on the inside from all the tea and the fact he thought washing it meant giving it a quick rinse at the end of the day. One day one of the other developers cleaned it properly, about 20 minutes with a scouring pad, boy was he cross. Something nuts to do with the stain giving it a better taste or something else crazy.

Afraid that is wrong. Coffee is a stimulant as it contains caffeine which is a stimulant. The fact you have said if you are a regular drinker and you slow down then you need to drink coffee to bring you back to "normal" kind of negates your opening statement.

Maybe you never had any coffee when you wrote this lol.

A simple google search will confirm that anything with caffeine whether that is coffee, coca cola or buckfast wine is a stimulant

I dug out my ancient Lavazza Principessa Expresso maker - it still works, though the rubber seal is looking a bit jaded and I had to use my vice to unscrew the sections!
I did a quick search for spares but nothing came up - is there such a thing as a rubber seal maker?
