Started another project today, three cabinets in MDF which will be gloss white. Here is the start of the first one a CD cabinet.

Here are the two doors that will house some more cd's:

I did get most of the other parts cut out for all of the cabinets and would have got more done but got a quick repair job in which took a couple of hours. :D

I got the interior of the C/D cabinet painted today along with most of the other two units.

This is 2K PU laquer I am using for this and have to say I am impressed with it so far.

From the piccy - it looks as if they were painted where they are? If so and with 2k paint - what are you using to not breathe the 2k fumes\vapours in?

Air fed mask Dibs, on loan at the moment.

Cool - as long as you have all the appropriate filters inline, if it's one that runs off a compressor. Compressor oil\water vapour ain't good on the lungs.

I started assembling some of the parts today. Here is the main carcass in clamps:

And one of the doors, I did manage to get both of them in glue.

Is that the water based 2K PU laquer mailee, if so i have used it on floors and it leaves a good hard finnish. Looking good nearly their now.

Cheers

Dave

Ooh no Dave, I won't touch water based! Such a pain in the butt without a booth. If I had used that it would have looked like a fluffy coat. I am still not sure which hinges to use, I may go for a piano hinge due to the weight. :?

I managed to get back to the workshop over the last couple of days. I got quite a bit done too as I managed to get the drawer unit and the small 2 door unit assembled. I also got the remainder of the insides painted along with the sliding doors and the drawer fronts.

If all goes well tomorrow I shall build the drawers and put the backs in them. I think I am just about caught up after losing two days work. :D

I have almost finished the CD cabinet I assembled it today to test everyt thing for fit.

The outside still has to be painted yet but I thought I would leave this until I was satisfied with the fit just in case anything needed trimming. I am glad to say it seems fine so I can get on with the finish now. Oh I should mention that the hinges are only temporary I shall be using piano hinges.

I started the final finish on the units yesterday and things didn't go well! I got alll of the outside of the units sprayed.

Then I had a mishap...yes I got runs in my paint!

Today I tried to level the runs and remove them but it didn't work so I had to re paint this unit again.
It looks like I am having a bad run at the minute as my broadband router gave up the ghost the other night and I have had to buy a new one, then I had no end of trouble trying to get it to work and have had no Internet for the last couple of days.

I got the CD unit finished finally and the three drawer unit almost finished.

I still have the handles to fit on this yet:

I am still working on the small two door unit as I managed to drop the door and chip the corner! :x I shall be glad to see the back of this one.
Your correct Wysong I am not using HVLP on this, and yes it is a lot of paint on there due to me not concentrating and coating it twice!

nice job ,i see you went for standard hinges in the end do you think these will hold up ok once the doors are full with cd's .

I finally got the rest of the units finished today. I will now be glad to see the back of them.

This one looks more like abeer fridge than a cabinet due to its small size??
I got the handles and the shelf fitted today which is all that was left to do.
