I'll try to resize them this time! wood painting experiments.

I obviously need to work on this. but at least I now know where to start.
It could brighten up an otherwist bland piece once I have the hang of it.

Another thing I have been trying out is more ambitious pyrography. still not too good at it ..... IT'S RUSTIC! OKAY? but I do like pyro if done well to add a bit of a difference.

I shall be trying more of this.

" Still not too good at it " ? ? Mrs Silver, its looks mighty impressive to me ! Like the 'Pyro' work... thats something I'd like to have a try at, just havent got around to it yet.

Looking good though... most impressive ! :) :D 8)

Very nice Mrs S.
Looks like the pyrography is coming along nicely. All takes time and patience  I'm a fine one to talk :D
I like the last piece best. What wood is it :?:

I used a sorby multi tip to hollow but it was a bit tight round the rim. and the walls are a bit thicker than I intended.

The pyro is fun! but still not got full control over it enough for really fine details. but I will kep trying it was only my third attempt.

Unsure what wood it is really. someone picked up a few 'noggins' while they were out from a farm I thought it may be oak at first from the colour when I fist started. but the texture when turning was more 'sycamoreish'
and it didn't split at all! and every peice of green oak I have ever tried has split like mad!! so .... not sure ...... some native tree.

This noggin was from the same pile, looked same int the log, but DID turn and split like oak! I left it slightly rough because I felt it suited it, but, it looked really fiberous and full of splits when I first turned the bark of, but on insection it was all just odd colouring on the wood. But some daft person didn't photograph it! #-o

You have certainly been honing your skills Mrs S. attractive colouring you have captured with those.

Like the pyrography - adds a nice feature, and still allows you to see the beauty of the timber. :D

Andrew

Thanks for that chaps, the decorative stuff is just in its learning stages and I would not want to use it on anything with a really good grain!!!

But you lot know me and my time restriction problems!?
The painting and pyro can be done anytime of the day or night because it makes no noise and, I don't end up with more wood on me than a tree and needing changes of clothes and showers and a lot of cleaning up after me!!

The things I go for myself, and the only type I have in my house, are simple shapes with fairly thick walls, sorry, but I like it feel like wood.
horses for courses!
