LOL. I remember Andrew Crawford ( the boxmaker ) saying he creeps into his workshop in the morning to French polish his boxes. Cover your workpiece and wait for the dust to settle. All finishing demands a clean workshop and discipline. I'm considering getting one of those 'pop up' tent covers sold by Rockler in the US.

As I primarily use MR MDF and water-based finishes for my furniture, I use a slightly dampened rag. I would worry that the wax in a tack rag might cause the finish to be repelled.

I use a shop vacuum with the motor unit vented outside. Seems ok to me.
