The T5 is at about the half way stage now. Main castings have had a couple of coats of Smoothrite and all metal surfaces polished to 1000g:

Knobs and tote have just had the first coat of oil, couple more to put on yet later in the week. Fiddly bits to start on next, should look quite pretty when done - Rob

Hi Rob - that's looking very nice.

I was thinking about your T5 refurb today and wondering how you were getting on. Funny you should post an update !

Cheers

Karl

Hi Rob
That is looking superb - better than new 8)

Do you brush on or spray the Smoothrite ?

Cheers :)
Tony

Tony - Smoothrite is just brushed onto de-greased metal (acetone) with 24hrs between coats. I paint it on when the metalwork has been finished to 800g and the final finish at 1000g removes any 'oversplash' and cleans up the metal at the same time - Rob

Would you mind divulging the exact colour of Smoothrite? The stuff I have used is too bright - almost a Royal blue.
Dick - if you bare with me, I'll take a pic of the tin and you'll see what I mean when I say I haven't got a clue what the shade is :D - Rob

Smudger - here's the Smoothrite I'm using....sorry for any delay, been 'busy' As you can see, it's a bit hard to tell exactly what shade it is, I picked it up purely by chance from a surplus store in town when I was doing the No4 and thought it might be a decent enough match for the Record Blue - Rob

I have seen hammerite in the QD shop in Stevenage that I think are in that language, if you have one near you it might be worth a look.

I believe it says 'Dark Blue' in Hungarian. Or that's what Google seems to be telling me.

I'm fairly certain that it is the same shade as UK Dark Blue - which I didn't buy because it looked dark, but now I see my mistake!
