ok, if i am to get serious about woodturning then i need a new lathe, one that doesn't skip across the benchtop while trying to cut bowls.

Good choice Steve. I bought that lathe last year, and love it. I't will really improve your turning. Are you getting the out rigger with it?. The only 2 problems i have with it are the price of buying a bed extension, and the stand can't be bolted to the floor, but the latter is only a problem when you have a very large off center piece on the lathe. There is a nice heavy feel to the Nova.

You clever so-an-so Steve, I bought the 1624-44. and while its perfect for me at my age and what I want to achieve,If I were you I would have done exactly as you have. I use one of these at the club and it's a really nice piece of kit. The electronic variable speed is so useful.

They say delivery is sometime in the next 10 days, which doesn't give me long to re-jig the cabin, i was hoping to add a vacum system of some sorts in there as well.
