Having a bit of a problem with Sketchup 7 at the moment. I have just updated to it recently and Now have a problem. As I draw something like a line or a box it has what I can only describe as 'Handles' on the corners or the ends, how can I get rid of these as they are showing up on the finished drawing?? I didn't have this problem on the previous version of Sketchup. :? :?:

My guess is that you selected a template that uses endpoints as part of the line style.

Go to Window>Styles and click on the Edit tab. Click on the wireframe cube you see immediately below the Select tab. Untick Endpoints and also Extensions if that is ticked.

Do that in a new, blank drawing and then click on the thumbnail image at the top right of the Style dialog box. Immediately, without making any other changes go to File>Save as template and complete the save process. Make sure Use as Default is ticked when you do that and you won't see those "handles" any more.

I expect there are probably other things that are different with your new template as compared to the one you were using with the previous version. If you want, e-mail me a simple SKP file from your new version ( a rectangle drawn in will be enough and one from your old version, I'll figure out the difference and fix your new template.

Many thanks Dave it's sorted. I had it set on the wrong template. It appears this template was the default one. I have changed it as you suggested and everything is fine now. I didn't realise it had all those templates and chose the one for woodworking. Thanks again Dave. :D

Glad that helped.

FWIW, when you install a new version of SketchUp it asks you to choose the template you wish to use as the default durning the first time start up. It's easy to blow right by that though when you just want to get to drawing.

Enjoy the new version. Did you just move up to 7.1 from 6 or from 7?

That is exactly what I did Dave, breezed through to get started. Well actually I have only just updated from version 5, bit long in the tooth me.
