Hi all.
Being a complete newbie to the world of hardwoods , I'm not at all good at identifying them visually or otherwise. Do any of you good folk know of a hardwood that, when you cut it or plane it, it smells of cola???
The reason being, I was dismantling a small table which had outgrown its use (only a cheapo job we bought ages ago from where I can't remember) with the purpose of using the donor wood for another project. Anyway, when it came to planing the awful stain from the lengths to see what the condition of the wood was, I noticed that a few of them had this strange smell eminating from it. The closest smell I could come up with is cola. It's not the stain, (or anything that has spilled onto it, before anyone asks  ), and not all of the wood is the same and so doesn't smell the same as these.Thats as much info as I can give, really but I can post a pic if needs be.
It may be a simple answer for someone to provide but I'd like to know as the wood is really nice to work with and I'd like to use it again.
Sorry for the long-winded query BTW
Ta muchly
