steaming a dent out of veneer mdf?

I am aware being able to steam a dent out of normal soft or hard wood and have even done it a couple of times. However, this time I would like to try it on some oak veneered mdf. At some point when I have laid the sheet down a splinter of wood was pressed into the sheet causing a dent. I'm just worried about delaminating the veneer if I try it!

Anyone done this successfully?

I've never tried this but would be very nervous of the MDF expanding to make a 'domed' area - my experience of ordinary MDF is that it's never the same after being exposed to excess moisture. I'm guessing that the veneer will probably stay 'glued-on' but that the MDF will distort.

I'd just dab a bit of water on it first and see if that makes a difference.
