I have a Startrite table saw (I believe it's a tilt arbor 165)

I have removed the old damged grub screws from the insert plate mountings but I don't know what size they are.

They are very similar to M4 but the thread is different.

I presume its imperial but there are various types of imperial sizes (UNC/UNC/BA/BSW) and I'm too young to have used them in school/life.

I don't have a thread gauge.

Anyone with a startrite know what they would be?

If anyone has the size, would this also apply to the rest of the saws nuts/bolts/threads?

Hi
I am also in the process of rebuilding my Startrite 145 table saw. The threads are BSW with the exception of the Brook Crompton motor and mounting plate which are metric. BSW fasteners are still available in the most common sizes. I will check my saw tomorrow morning to get you the correct size. Alt Saws in Gillingham should have them as spares anyway as they still service and repair Startrite machines and are very helpfull.

I have now checked my grub screws - 3/16 BSW. 24 threads per inch (TPI), 3/4" long, fitted with a hex nut. Two of my tapped holes are near the edge of the casting, so I would not risk tapping these out if yours are similar to mine. Again, I suggest a phone call to Alt Saws in Gillingham would be the best idea for spares as most of these listed on the internet are shorter than these.
I have no affiliation with Alt Saws, but their web page is here:http://www.altsawsandspares.co.uk/
Hope this helps.
Nigel
