Hey,

Just thought I'd say hello.

I studied product/furniture design at University 20 years ago and now I am just finally starting to build a bit of a workshop and start making things again.
I've built up a decent collection of battery tools over the years - mitre saw, plunge saw, sanders and that kind of thing and yesterday I finally picked up a table router...

2nd hand on eBay - Jessem stand with top, rout-r-lift, mast-r-fence and a cheap old router already fitted. I am pretty happy with the buy, just need to clean it up and work out some things to make.
It had a 1/2" mitre lock cutter included, which is something I wanted to buy pretty soon so I guess I'll practice on some box making first.

Any suggestions on what I could try to gain confidence with the table router?

Thanks all, pleased to meet you.
Mat

Hi and welcome, my advice is to do a few dry runs before the power is turned on . Check all your settings and that everything is tight especially the router and bit . Then a few simple cuts like a rebate or a groove joint - take shallow passes until you get the feel for it . Maybe stick to softwood and don’t rush . Stay safe 🤗
