Just thought I'd put up a tip on here about upgrading your hand planes blades. I've just finished doing the last plane I have a nice Stanley No7. I've fitted Rider blades from Axminister tools and cap irons and yokes from Workshop Heaven. the blades are seconds that Axminister put on ebay for a fration of the price of firsts. Hardly any difference, of the ones I had, some had marks on the surface, a couple needed the backs flatening. Either cosmetic or needing ten minuets more work on the stone. Also put in a longer yoke to accomodate the much thicker blade and cap iron. The mouth needs to be made wider by about 2mm at the front, the difference is amazing, well worth the time and money to do.

In the spirit of James Bond I call that new cutter a real honey, I guess a Honey Rider so to speak.
