spiral ducting

Hi all, I'm going to be running some spiral ducting to my machines in the near future and was wondering. Do I need to buy connectors to join each piece or do the sections join together. Do I only need the connectors if I cut a length? Do I get the male or female ones

Yes you need connectors . I use the internal ones. there's some pics on here I posted a long time back.
FWIW try to avoid the, T's use Y's instead or the saddles when branching off.

Your making a good choice with the Spiral ducting.

If you haven't bought it yet, I'd go for clipped ducting instead, much more versatile.

Thanks Bob I did a search for the clipped stuff and its alot more expensive than the normal spiral. So I'll be going for the cheap option

I have the normal spiral. My installation is a bit complicated with a number of changes in level and angle. The great advantage of it is that you can easily steal a few degrees of angle change in the joints. I agree that internal joints are the best way to go. Mine are secured with three pop rivets at each joint which is pretty quick and easy. One last point, whatever you do, don't tape the joints with duct tape. This is good for lots of things but not ducting because it dries out, leaks and then falls off. What you need is self adhesive aluminium tape. It stays on and is nice and shiny if that matters to you!
