An odd request for help please... if I wanted to purchase a quantity of good quality tool handles with ferrules (chisel handle say) does anyone know a UK supplier? I wonder if Sorby etc make their own or buy them in. Alternatively if anyone has production facilities to make quite a few, please let me know.

.

Get them made? How many hundreds have you got in mind?

Any turner can make chisel handles. It is a (not too difficult) knack that can be learned. Otherwise talk nicely (with beer tokens handy) to a turner.

Far cheaper than buying them ready made - not only that, you get them made to your own requirements.

Give me a PM?

Assuming you really mean a proper quantity (not just a few which you would make yourself on your lathe) I was just reading about a TATHS AGM which included a visit to Woodware Repetitions in Sheffield. They are just across the road from the Ken Hawley collection and as well as making a wide range of wooden tool handles and suchlike they took over George Barnsley's line of leather tools.
They don't seem to have a website but this link should lead to a Streetview shot of their premises, with a reassuring picture of a chisel handle: http://goo.gl/maps/rHJTQ

Their phone number is 0114 272 6060.

Andy - your 'library' again. =D>
Yes indeed, might be more than I would enjoy making, rough guess is 50/month.
I shall investigate. Many thanks.
p.s. streetview image looks v promising, nice to know places like that survive.
