These standard hardened steel bushings are just the job for drilling jigs. In theory you can get them from engineering suppliers, but none of my bookmarked eng/industrial suppliers seem to list these. Any suggestions?

I have a similar need and might well make a set for myself, one question... which tool steel do I use and where from? Philly?? Anyone???

Having had to make a few over the years I've always used 'silver steel'.
Try Yellow Pages for a local supplier, harden and temper as for any high carbon steel.

Use Silver Steel and harden and temper. (Cherry red, quench, polish, heat to light straw, quench.)
I get mine from:GLR in Daventry.

Or Mild steel and Case harden. spec. 080M40 or the older En8 would be best.

The SS is probable easiest if you don't already have any carbon rich compound.
