Watching youtube videos on Internet Explorer (and even on the ipad with safari) my PC crashes, both with upto date windows and apple updates.

Anyone give me a clue what is happening and why.

If it's happening both on your PC and ipad, then a chat with your ISP is in order. Might be something on their end.

What do you mean by crashing?
MY pc screen goes black and I have no Window (7) to operate, it did it also at the Ipad (safari)and the screen went black with no options at Ipad only to switch on again.

I have spoken to virginmedia on the telephone support line and they state they have now done checks of the inline cable connection to me and state there is not a fault at there end and they suggest I reinstall Internet Explorer.
Looking in control centre at my PCW7 I note there is nothing for me with regard to uninstall I/E but if I go to Internet options I have the choice to make an Internet connection choice.
Do I just install I/E over the top or what would be your advice please.
(BTW my windows disk does not work to reinstall not that I want to do that)

Unfortunately I know nthing about Apple but it is really odd that both devices fail. I have had my pc act thr same while playing video once or twice.

I'd personally leave IE alone as it is an integral part of windows (and its crap) and instead install google chrome and see how you get on.

Perhaps updating your video drivers/codec wouldn't hurt.

Thanks, no idea where I would go for those drivers #-o

+1 for ditching explorer, it's always been full of bugs. I use Chrome but there are several others just as good. I'd advise just downloading and give it a try, you can always uninstall if you don't like it.

Can't help with the codecs and drivers as it depends on your system but generally it's not too difficult to update drivers. ( If you could watch youtube there are videos available to show how #-o )

Very strange that it affects your other devices however and rather suggests it might be your wireless connection at fault. Is your PC a wired or wireless connection?

cheers
Bob

True what folks said about IE.
Install Chrome or Firefox. Can't hurt to try, but I suspect it might be the WiFi router/ modem acting up.
What are the chances of 2 units working on different platforms showing same symptoms?

I think this is just coincidence personally, turning your ipad off is not going to be caused by your isp in any way shape or form.

Ipads are simpler than pcs so let's start with that. Try installing chrome or the YouTube app and see if they work OK and we can go from there.

John, are you sure your machines are crashing?

Or are you just refering to getting a Black/Blank un-responsive Youtube video screen that is not loading or taking excessive time to download the video.

Thanks all , The windows 7 pc is definitely a crash, needs rebooting to start up again.
The Ipad, I do not use much for video watching its only I wanted to watch a particular video that had crashed on the pc so I put it up on the Ipad using safari and it crashed there as well.
At the time I got in touch with the guy doing this painting demo using photoshop as the painting medium and he advised using Chrome or updating drivers at utube.
So now when I use the pc to watch utube videos I will use chrome, I cannot recall if chrome has crashed on the ipad, it might have been safari.
(I/E does not allow me to create favourites of utube videos at my favourite bar BTW)

I'll chip in that Chrome eats up a lot of RAM, so if there's still some issues try Firefox or Opera instead

If it's a Youtube video post a link & we can try it to see if it works ok.

I just wonder whether you have an overheating problem because of all the hot weather. If so, can you take the side of the case off or place the case where it's cooler or gets a better air flow?

No probs for me with that link DW, I ran it in the background and no issues that I noticed although I didn't actually watch the video and it's still running at the minute.

I'm using a standard laptop, win7 on a wireless connection btw

Woah, slow down DW, that's moving house because of a broken lightbulb. What issues are driving you to want to change it?
