Sorby proedge cheaper belts?

The woodturning store near Oxford-Didcot used to sell belts made with Sia abrasives that fit the proedge. They were much cheaper than the factory issue and every bit as good.
What I don't know is if those are a standard product or if that store which sadly closed a few years ago, had them made up specially.

There are companies who will make belts.
Olivers Woodturning sell them and they are what I use. I can't tell the difference. https://www.oliverswoodturning.co.uk/
They seem to be about £1 cheaper per belt. I'm sure we can do better than that

There's a quite long video on you tube about using the PE. I recall it's a sort of zoom thing done by a club member, with other members asking questions every now and then. The demonstrator mentions that ge gets belts much cheaper from XXXX.

I've used BND Abrasives in Andover for many years, good choice, decent prices and will post of course, downside was you had to usually order 10 or 12 of each item at a time. Not had to order any recently though so don't know if they are still around and if the prices are still good.
Nearly there - they have a range of 50 x 785mm belts at a very good price, but only one type (knife sharpening, and expensive) in 50 x 780, which is apparently Sorby belt dimension.

They are only 5mm different - would they fit?

I have 785mm belts on my ProEdge. They seem to work. Axminster do 785x50 belts.

Well, that's interesting - I searched a fair bit yesterday and apparently the belts from the Axi UE do fit the Sorby PE, and that's at 50x785. The Axi ceramic belts are cheaper than the Sorby ones (tho out of stock at the mo), but that also means that these (AbTec) should also fit, and are cheaper again:

Maybe, you could initiate a group buying scheme to get a bulk discount, and avoid carriage charges, At my old workshop i would often share the costs of purchasing sanding discs with a neighbouring workshop, to bring the costs down.
Mind you, the fewer people involved the better, otherwise ic could be like herding cats.
