Hi,

I think you might be able to make out the address on the box, nocturnal visit any one?

Pete-not jealous at all

That would explain why I thought he was saying it funny in the video. It will always be Hotley in my mind, just as I always thought fat boy slim was singing "praise you like a shoe" rather than praise you like I should.

£17,000!!!!!!

Is that really true?
I mean I like tools as much as the next person but........

Possibly according to the Holtey website.

That much on planes and he installs crap laminate flooring for his family...each to their own I suppose.

I thought it would be a fair bit, but 17000! Thats insano! I sent him an PM on sawmill creek and he's coming to join us here, so we can ask him ourselves soon!

I'd love to hear what he does with them. I'd have to say I'd only have them as an investment, as their worth will only go up.

I'd like to know why he bought an A6 AND a 982??????? Two smoothers? Surely he could have bought something different for one of them, and had a more useable combination (that is assuming that they are going to be used?).

Cheers

Karl

I wonder if he'll be interested in our tips on how to restore £5 bootfair bargains?
He might be a bit hard up by now!

I see the obsession...they are masterpieces...but I must admit...to use them is almost criminal.

I'm so glad I will never be able to afford one...then I don't have the nagging desire to whip out a bit of rough stock just for the hell of it! :D

Honestly, if I had that sort of money as my disposable income, I'd buy them and more to boot. Good luck to him. He likely earns his money and does with it what he pleases. I'd like to think he uses them, but don't have a problem with collecting.

Great to see Holtey's attention to detail even in the wrapping. The straps matched the packing tape!

Why :? I'd use them if they were mine. Otherwise, what's the point? If the objective is to make money, then there are other things that will increase in value to a greater degree than woodworking tools.

Cheers

I suppose Brazilain rosewood would be too dark for flooring?

:D :D :D :D

Seriously...I am in awe at those planes...one lucky guy!

I still wouldn't use them...I would just sit and look at them....

Do you use them?

Like all great art...which these planes clearly are...the world would be a poorer place...but if I had enough money to buy Holtey's masterpieces...I would buy two the same...one to look at and one to use...only then would I feel happy using one!

Jim

Congratulations to that man, i think everyone here is a bit jealous. I have 2 Holteys, actually i only have 2 block plane blades which Karl gifted to me. Just the blades themselves are a joy to use, i can only imagine what it is like to use a complete plane. When in his workshop, or should i say operating theatre i held one of his jointers. Really heavy but it was like holding the crown jewls, was pooping myself incase i dropped it.

Maybe one day :D

Woodguy.

Just to clarify, Nicholas Dalberg is the lucky chap who just posted above!

So are you going to use or store, I couldn't use them, to pretty.
