Last night I made my first snowman and to be honest it was a bit of a disaster but having said that I learnt a lot by my mistakes, although it does not look to bad in the photo I feel my 5 year old grandson could have done a better job. I cut the hat free hand and that was the worst of the whole thing. I have now made some templates out of thin ply for a top hat and a bobble hat. The snowman is not glued down, he is going in the bin. I will make another later having learnt a lot more.

In the other photo is a Steve Good design and tomorrow I will fill the lettering with white clay and the snowman with the appropriate colours in clay and I am confident this will turn out very well and will post a pic when it is finished. The backers have not been treated yet to a finish and I thought I would try a spray sanding sealer first and then a spray on acrylic lacquer.

Geoff.

Looks good to me.

If you class that as a bin case, then all of my work should be binned.

Hi Brian. It is Acasia wood that the snowman is resting on. I was very excited when it arrived. I got one of the planks and sanded it down and then polished it, and polished it and this is the result, one of the most beautiful woods I have even had. After Christmas I shall be making a couple of nesting tables with it.
