Well, I was installing a new blade to the antique bandsaw i inherited from my grandfather when Snap... The screw in the tensioning system sheared.

Therefore, it is time for a new one. I am quite glad actually because it was fairly limited in throat and depth capacity.

I don't have a great deal of money to spend so was looking at the SIP 01489 14" model. I have the SIP C/I table saw, and am so impressed with it, that SIP seemed to be the sensible option.

I would appreciate any comments on this saw and the 12" version, as well as suggestions for any alternatives.

Many Thanks

Hi Jim,

I have the 12" one and I been very happy with it, plus I would say go for or the 14" one :D

Have a look on ebat for a good price

Hi Jim, I'm happy with my 14", you may wish to replace the blade guide bearings with rubber sealed versions once out of the guarantee, the metal sealed ones are prone to dust ingress which seize solid, SIP will replace them if you ask with same spec.

I could not be bothered to keep asking for replacements and went with a rubber set after the first couple.

Not a major problem if they seize, they still guide the blade and probably would not cause any significant blade wear by the time the blade teeth are worn out anyway.
