Neatly done, very 'Georgesque', good choice of timber to give maximum finish impact.

Thank you guys

The more I looked the more I have to agree, having seen so many of his boxes subconsciously I turned this shape without thinking about it

hrrummpphhh. Reminds me of the laburnum box I spent ages turning today until just before it was finished...that was when it chose to explode into two pieces!! No injury apart from my pride and a massive waste of time!

Although you learnt something right - so at least it wasn't a TOTAL waste of time!

;)

Lovely box - but Laburnum ! - I've got what I thought was a laburnum and its outer is yellowish and inner almost black a real contrast. No doubt I've got it wrong and got something thats spreading disease/fungus to my stock. Anyway it looks good and I love the colour. Need to get a - Whats that Tree guide by looking at its Bark - book soon.

The out was yellowish but had some woodworm in it so got rid of that and only used the darker wood this was from a branch which started as 4"

You were lucky it only had 'some woodworm' don't know of another wood that attracts munching vermin and rot as quick as Laburnum sapwood does if there's the slightest bit of moisture about.

Although some Cherries can be nearly as good at it if left out in the wet.

Nice little box that, I've not used Laburnham, must look out for some. Maybe cut my neighbours tree down while he's not looking. Lol
