Further to the discussion about making money from our hobby here are some trinket boxes made on commission.

Slightly off topic as most of the work was done on the bandsaw (the knobs were made on the scrollsaw  ).

I did use a 1/8" (Tuff Saws) blade but have made them in the past with a 3/16" blade.

Thanks Phill,
I use Hamilton Beaverstock but was thinking of TuffSaws if they are any cheaper.

take care

Don, do they have a website?

TuffSaws seemed to be well thought of on here so that's who I went with, but I'm open to other suggestions.

Nice boxes Phill. The 1/4" will be fine but I also use a 1/8" from Tuffsaw. However, dont expect to make any profit from boxes but it does help to pay for the nice wood.

I've found their website now. Just typed their name into Google, Doh! The strange thing was the first time I tried that I got lots of results to various forums mentioning them but not their website its self. Another search and there they were at the top! Must have misspelled it the first time.

Any road, comparing prices for the same blade size they are 50p cheaper than Tuffsaws so there's nowt in it really. I might give them a try just for comparison.

Isn't that the truth!

I think if we can cover the cost of the wood plus a bit for the occasional new tool/s and maybe the odd Maccy that's about as much as we can hope for.

Just had a Tuffsaws blade delivered today and its a 89" 6tpi 1cm blade which should be ok for general wood butchering. I had a go at the boxes but didn't feel that save having me hands so close to the blade so cheated and used the scroll saw lol (see attached photos not in the same league as you guys) the Carter guides look great but very expensive.
Love the boxes Phill and also love Malcolms too

Cheers
Brian

Ps Doesn't that Flocking make a Flocking Mess? gets everywhere
