Good day

"When you search with Google, Yahoo! or MSN, SiteAdvisor's safety ratings appear next to search results".

"As you browse, a small button on your browser toolbar changes color based on SiteAdvisor's safety results".

I just copy/past from the McAfee site. I have it installed, it warns you if the site is infected, very useful when searching.

Hi Niki

Are there any performance issues, as this piece of software will have to go back to the main database each time it is used?

Cheers
Neil

Hi Neil,

Just been trying out the software and no discernible performance impact at all on my 1mb broadband connection.

The search results come up with a flag next to each showing the status and are colourcoded, green being okay, gray being untested and I assume, though I haven't had any yet, red if there are some issues.

In theory there must be a performance impact as you say, but not noticeable in use.

Cheers, Paul. :D

Hi Neil

Maybe there is some performance impact during the start-up of the browser, because the browser connects you also to the SiteAdvisor but, once the browser finished the start-up it usually takes a second to show the status of the site, ie, green, yellow or red (or ? if the site is not tested).

Make a search with google on XXX and you will see all the red X's, just hoover your courser over the red X (or green) and you will see more information about the site.

When you are, for example, watching the Ukworkshop, left click on the SiteAdvisor icon, on the pop-up menu click on View site details and you will see all the connections of the Ukworkshop site and other info.
