side table 002.JPG

My current side table by my armchair is very tatty and cheap - it has a plasticy look, so thought I'd make myself a new one.
I've got lots of off-cuts taking up valuable space so it wasn't difficult to sort out some suitable pieces for this small job. The legs are actually from a old table I bought for recycling - the grain is so smooth, almost 'soapy'. A type of Mahogany maybe.
I'm close to glue-up. Just the mortices for the buttons and a bit more finishing to do. Cutting the M and T's has been so enjoyable. They all fitted perfectly with only minimal trimming to the tenons which makes a nice change!
You can see from the photo that the top has curved sides. Not sure if it will look alright - if not I'll cut them square.

Final coat of Osmo Oil applied yesterday. Very pleased with the joints, finish etc but slightly unsure with the radiused sides - makes a change from straight anyway.
So onward now to the next project. Could be a double bed.
