I am considering a project to make secondary glazing panels to insert between mullions in my bay window.
the plan is to make frames with a 4- 6mm wide 15mm deep rebate routed out to take the glass. I want the overall thickness of the frame to be approx 15-18mm ; width around 25. I will fix them with some sort of key to lock them into the mullions.
the bay window has 10 sashes, each divided into 4 individual panes. so I will need 10 glazed insert panels for one bay.
I had considered Perspex, but prefer glass. Should it be toughened? I don’t want to end up with glazing that is so heavy it can’t be remove.
has anyone done anything similar? Any thought/ tips etc welcome
cheers
