Sheppach 5-2 belt change...HELP!

The school bandsaw belt has worn away down past the teeth and is now struggling to drive the bottom wheel.
It looks like the wheel will have to come off to replace the belt.
A circlip needs to be removed first and am wondering if the wheel will be easy to remove (and then replace) ie. should it slide off the shaft easily? or will it have been a press fit!
Thanks for any advice.

PS. am having trouble finding a replacement belt...any ideas?

I have the 5-4, which is identical except it has two pairs of drive pulleys, not just one.

I've never had to replace the drive belt, but I would expect it to be driven by a key, so there is no need for it to be a very tight press fit. I would expect it to drift off easily.

As regards the drive belt, have you tried your local motor factors? Just tell them what size you want and they will probably have something similar. I fitted out my Kity P/T that way.

Don't know the Sheppach details but normally if there is a retaining circlip on the drive wheel stub axil then the bearings are just a push fit, whether this is a sliding or an interference fit is down to how good the manufacturing tolerances were.
If for any reason the wheel will not budge with firm hand pulling on its periphery try giving the central bearing boss a tap with a suitable block of wood and a mallet to try and drive it a few mm further on the shaft to break any corrosion film that may have formed between bearing bore and shaft.

Undo the locking lever lift motor and fit belt if your 5-2 is the same as mine

I have a spare belt I got from NMA if they are out of stock I can send you this one which you can replace when they are available again.

Belts are standard parts and should be much much cheaper from the usual bearing and belt stockists rather than being bled white by the manufacturers agents.

Thanks all...Rob, the large double pulley prevents the worn belt being removed... But will double check in the morning.
