A couple of firsts for me tonight. 1st time making a shaving brush and 1st time turning stabilized wood. It was more wooden than I expected, I had assumed it would turn like a resin. These are made from birch burr that I got from secret santa. 2 brushes and about half an inch of wastage!

Now to see if the pictures will upload.

errrrm, nothing yet. I put the brushes in for the photo, but haven't got anything suitable to hand.

I have read not to use CA, so was planning to get some epoxy when I am next passing somewhere.

Mark,
Looks nice. I use Gorilla Glue Epoxy. A small dob in the bottom for the knot and I used to coat the inside of the hole with a smear of the epoxy as well.

which did you go for? One of these is a golden nib, the other a Chinese. Both "finest badger". I couldn't tell the difference between the two in feel or quality.

Just be warned if you sell them.

I had a lady demanding to know where I got the badger hair from - protected species. So I told her I had a pet one that I shaved every so often!!

Some people have no sense of humour!!!

I took the 24mm Silvertips - one from TGN, one from China. As Munch had said, both very nice, TGN maybe slightly tighter packed.

STILL trying to get out and make the handles (apparently it's FINALLY bright enough weather for the garden jobs  )
