It's not fastened together yet as can't make my mind up whether to stain it, or blather it in teak oil or the lemon oil from Lakeland that Bryan (I think) put us on to.

Very nice Martin. In your shoes I would try different finishes on off cuts before commiting any one finish to such a beautiful bowl. I bet your misses is well pleased with that.

Good idea, Geoff. The lemon oil really brought the grain out on the headphone stand, which is made of pine, but I've not tried it on BB ply yet.

You're right, my o/h thinks it's great. Made no difference though, it was still beans on toast for tea. :D

Very stylish, Martin.
Geoff has the right idea about testing different finishes first too.

Very well done Martin , looks a real beauty ,

Finishing can either make or break a piece , so I would go along with Geoff's way of thinking and try out on waste first .

Thanks for showing .

Looks good, Martin.
I am with Geoff, I very often try different finishes on off-cuts, but more often than not I revert back to the old faithful, Lemon Oil.

Tried to think of something to get you off the beans on toast.
Best I can think of, is let the wife sell your motorbike while you are out. My wife did this with my last bike (BMW 800), sold it to a local motorcycle dealer, she got a good price, and I did not make a fuss. I just hid in a corner and cried  , now I only get beans on toast by request. Result.

Take care, the above is a bit drastic.
Tip, keep your bike chained and locked to the garage floor. Just in case your wife reads this post.

Chris, I have never been without a bike in over 50 years, I don't intend to lose it now. And when my mother's house is finally sold, I'll be having another. Got to get it done while I can. Contrary to lots of movies, the dead don't ride motorbikes. :)

Martin.

Go for it, just wish I could.

The strange thing is, when I was first diagnosed with (MS), eleven years ago, all but my car licence was revoked, but just had my three year licence renewal, without taking a further driving assessment, and all classes have been reinstated, unrestricted motorcycle, HGV to eight ton plus trailer, bus (not for reward or hire), and car, the only snag all have to be auto transmission, with left foot accelerator and brake. :(

Now all I need is a motorcycle with stabilisers that flip out when I stop, and I could burn up the road with you.

Take care.

Chris R.

Sorry completely off topic.
