Hello All, would any Sedgwick PT owners/users, have had this, or a similar problem, when trying to adjust the blades, on one side of the cutter block, the adjustment grub screw becomes partially covered by the bottom edge of the blade, making it difficult if not impossible to adjust, even using a ball ended key doesnt help, i cant access the hex slot, it happens on both sides of the block, and at the side nearest me, not on the fence side, the fence side adjustment is spot on, i think the chipbreaker isnt sitting uniformly in the slot, but the blades appear to be flush in the slot and sat correctly, so im a little puzzled.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have a Sedgwick MB which is difficult to adjust for same reason. The Allen key can be made to click from one flat to the next if I slack off the chip breaker bolts and just have the one at the far end holding the blade. The blade and breaker are then pushed back a little by the key rotating one flat at a time. I use a dial gauge and magnetic base to get the knives spot on before tightening and testing again, yes it can be a fiddle! The out feed table on my machine is adjustable so I only need to get the Knives cutting to the same height and then level the table to that. The machines with a fixed out feed table must be more difficult.to set unless you have the disposable knife block.

Hello Mike, and many thanks, it is a fixed outfeed, what i do to adjust is, remove the blade guard and stem, which gives me access to the cutter block end, and using a small screwdriver below the blade, tweak the blade to height adjust, its a bit fiddly but works, my machine is 21yrs old, so some wear is expected, the chipbreaker as youll know, it has 4 divets cut into the back of it, where the 4 locking grub screws locate, mine appears somewhat worn where the grub screws actually sit, i was looking at this possibly being the issue, ive mailed sedgwick, but had no reply, i ordered replacement adjustment grub screws from sedgwick, but, the new grub screws have a 4mm hex slot, were as the originals have a 3mm hex slot, the 4mm screws make it impossible to adjust , ive one two things i want to try, but ill do that on my next blade change. at least i now know its not quite the unique problem i thought it was, Cheers.

Would a different blade size help do you think? These don't sit as deep as the original set I had, as they are only 1" high.

Can we have some pictures?

I've got an MB and I never even knew you could adjust the chip breaker! Without wanting to derail the thread, are there any tips on doing this? My machine has a Tersa head BTW.

Cheers Martin, im using 260mmx25mmx3mm at the moment, its worth looking into though.
And the MB Machine ive never used, i assume its the same set up, but dont quote me on that.

Good Evening All, update from Sedgwick, their engineer couldnt pinpoint the problem, and the chipbreakers are matched to the cutter block, the divets/dimples in the chipbreaker are cut to suit each individual block, so, as such, chipbreakeres arnt really an item that can be replaced.
Undaunted, ill sort it, or at least keep tweaking. Vin.

Perhaps a daft question, but have you tried swapping the chip breakers around....?

By those dimensions you have the same knife size as me, so that can't be it. Hmmmm.

Hello Martin, i thought about doing that, but the block slots and chipbreakers are numbered, on my machine its 5 and 6, but ill give it a try on my next blade swap, Cheers
