I bought these saws at Pughs sale yesterday, they are about 33" long and was wondering if anyone knew anything about them as i have not come across two man saws this small. My initial thought was they may be for resawing small sections of veneer.??

Very nice purchase 8) 8)
Look very much like veneer saws to me ...
Sure I have seen them in at least one of the books I have

I beleive they are specially made for going on the walls of pubs, at least, that's the only use I can think of

Yikes. I have no idea.

Those appear to be very small two man saws, with blades that aren't tensioned by a frame, but blades that aren't thick enough to be "self supporting".

Most odd. I would (wildly) guess they're part of a "system", and that there's part of the system missing.

BB..they are different lengths so the system idea doesn't seem right. They also seem very early and have ben used alot especially the narrow one which is quite bowed from sharpening.

I wonder if they could be useful in large pierced work. I'm thinking of panels either in situ or too large for fretsaws. they could well be faster and more accurate than keyhole saws.
