Another vice for me to restore.
This one was in the scrap pile at my local scrap yard.
Some how it lept into my car.
 
Very nice looking vice TYA.
Do you have any other info on it, like maker's name, if it
was for a special purpose, etc ?

There is a hint of some marks on the item. I hope when it is cleaned I will be able to read them
never seen one of that type so small.......
great find.......

I have one what is 2" tall. A number of full sized Odd leg Vices and a 18" version as well.
 
Nice bit of wrought, is the crew box missing or is it just threaded on the rear jaw?

It was a simple bit of gentle force.

After hard boiling in citric acid and 600 grit grinding paste.

Getting some stove black and bee's wax onto the metal.

The grease on the threads in pig fat and linseed oil.

does boiling in Citric make it faster .......
not sure aout the Pig fat tho.....

PS, if u add a little ep80//90w oil to copper slip and whip it up or never seize in the US it will stay soft for years........
I used it succesfully on the undercarriage of crawler cranes.....
