Yeah, I managed to pick up a couple of small bits of Tiger Oak that intrigued me. Never seen it before so will try and find a project for it. Turn out was quite good but I have no idea what it's like normally. Perhaps about 15-20 people milling around the yard at most times.

I went along to the open day and had a great time going through and picking out some nice boards. Sadly I was unable to meet Mike as he was in hospital with a kidney stone, hopefully he will get well soon. Still everybody was well looked after by Rene and it was a thoroughly enjoyable trip.

I really hope that they are able to relocate as it is great to have a quality, friendly hardwood supplier within range of Cambridge.

Hmm. I'd better give him a call and see if he is well - I was going to pop in this weekend to collect some Walnut he has for me. Planning on using it to make a smoker's bow for my next chair.

I for one would be delighted if he ended up operating from somewhere a bit nearer to Bedford ...

Here are some pics from the day. You can see how nice the little cottage is so it must be hard for them to be moving on. I took a fancy to that bandsaw. Never seen a blade like it before. :)

I visited the farm with a buddy on the open day hoping to find a few bits of suitable timber, despite not finding anything I was looking for just as I was getting into my car to leave Mike turned up. I heard one of his friends greet him on his arrival and tell him they had done brilliantly. I can only assume he made a few quid, which I am sure will help.

Mike has a fantastic workshop, integrated into old farm buildings, I'm sure it took years to get it all set up. I don't envy him having to clear the site, the amount of timber is unbelievable, although a good deal of it looks to be beyond use.
